Convention Starter Guide

What to expect at your first convention

Welcome to Kaiga Convention "KaiCon"! We're excited to have you join us for an unforgettable experience celebrating all things anime, pop culture, and gaming. Whether it's your first time attending an anime convention or you're an experienced con-goer, here's a handy starter guide to help you make the most of your day.

Above all, remember to have fun, get amongst the excitement, and enjoy the atmosphere of Kaiga Convention. We can't wait to share this amazing experience with you, and we are here for you every step of the way!

COMFORT IS KEY

Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing that allows you to move freely throughout the day. The convention can involve a lot of walking, so prioritize comfort over style.

PACK ESSENTIALS

Consider bringing a bag to carry your belongings and purchases. Some essential items to include are a refillable water bottle, snacks, a portable phone charger, and a notepad and pen for jotting down notes!

PLAN AHEAD

Check the event schedule and plan which panels, workshops, or activities you'd like to attend. It's a good idea to prioritize your must-see events to ensure you don't miss out on anything you're particularly interested in.

ENGAGE WITH OTHERS

Attending KaiCon is a great opportunity to meet like-minded individuals who share the same interests as you! This is a wonderful chance to make new friends.

RESPECT & CONSENT

Remember, cosplay is not required, but if you choose to dress up, ensure your costume is comfortable and appropriate for the event. Respect others' personal space and always ask for permission before taking photos or touching someone's cosplay. Cosplay is not consent!

STAY ENERGIZED

If you get easily distracted, set alarms to ensure you drink enough water and eat food throughout the day. Don't let your energy get depleted! Try to go for healthy options such as fruit instead of caffeine, you will thank yourself later.

STAY INFORMED

Check the our website or social media pages for any updates or announcements leading up to the convention. This will help you stay informed about any changes, important updates, or additional activities.

HAVE A BACK-UP PLAN

Be mindful of your own individual needs and ensure you plan for any worst-case scenarios. Double check you have all your medications and support systems in place! Communicate with friends and family of your needs and plans.

BUDGET WELL

Make sure you have a plan before attending, how much do you need for food and drink, what will you spend on merchandise, how much will transport cost?

KEEP DEVICES CHARGED!

We have designated areas to recharge devices, if in doubt just ask at the Help Desk! You can also be prepared ahead of time by bringing your own power bank.

DO YOU FEEL UNSAFE?

We encourage you to proactively seek support whenever you have concerns or questions during your time at the convention. Your well-being and comfort are important to us, so please don't hesitate to approach our dedicated team of Security Guards, Volunteers, or Staff Members for further guidance and assistance. Rest assured that your concerns will be taken seriously, and we are here to support you throughout the event.

FEELING OVERWHELMED?

We understand that the convention atmosphere can be overwhelming at times, with its vibrant lights, bustling crowds, and overlapping sounds. If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed or on the verge of a meltdown, we encourage you to prioritize your well-being. Please take a moment to find a seat and, if possible, signal a nearby volunteer who will be ready to assist you. They will be able to provide guidance and support in escorting you to a quieter and more comfortable area where you can take a break and regain your composure and emotionally regulate.

ARE YOU LOST?

Prior to entering the convention, it's important, especially if you have small children, to establish a communication plan with your dependents and friends in case of separation. Designate a specific meeting point, such as the Foyer, where you can regroup if needed. Additionally, our dedicated stage volunteers are equipped to make announcements, so if you find yourself separated, they can assist in reuniting you with your group.
