Cosplaying at Kaiga Convention is not only encouraged but celebrated! We believe that cosplaying is an essential part of the anime and pop culture experience, allowing fans to showcase their creativity and pay homage to their favourite characters, don't worry though, it's not a requirement!
So grab your wigs, props, and costumes, and join us in bringing your favourite characters to life!
COSPLAY IS FOR ANYONE
At Kaiga Convention, we firmly believe that cosplay is for anyone. We foster an inclusive and accepting environment where diversity is celebrated and all individuals are treated with respect. We have zero tolerance for fat shaming, racism, or any form of discrimination.
We warmly welcome individuals of all backgrounds, body types, gender expression and abilities, understanding that cosplay is a powerful tool for self-expression and creativity.
COSPLAYERS SUPPORT EACH OTHER
We prioritize creating a supportive community where cosplayers can learn, share, and grow together. Regardless of your experience level, we believe that everyone has something unique to contribute. We encourage beginners to join us on their cosplay journey and remind them not to compare themselves to others who are further along. Our focus is on fostering a positive and encouraging atmosphere where we lift each other up and appreciate the efforts and creativity of all cosplayers.
We highly advocate for a hate and drama free environment for everyone, let's work together and make all cosplay spaces - not exclusive to KaiCon - a safe and welcoming space!
Kaiga Anime Convention is excited to see all your amazing props that go with your cosplays! However, we have a Duty of Care to ensure that all attendees and staff feel safe and are not placed in harm's way.
No real weapons.
All weapons must comply with the State Weapons Legislation as dictated by the WA Police/Local Police of the state
Realistic looking firearms must have an orange cap on the end of the barrel.
No projectile weapons (including nerf guns) are permitted.
Weapons made of metal or other potentially sharp/hazardeous materials must be inspected at the cosplay checkpoint.
Props or weapons can not exceed 1.5 meters in length within the Kaiga Anime Convention pavilion or theatre. If the prop or weapon exceeds this and has been made for part of the KaiCon Cosplay Tournament or Cosplay Parade, this item is to be stored at the cosplay checkpoint until the presentation on stage (or prejudging in the case of the Tournament).
Furthermore, cosplays that are large in size, have spikes, large wings or banners, must be mindful and respectful of other attendees. If there is an issue, Kaiga Anime Convention staff may ask for the cosplayer to change or alter attire (ie. take off wings).
